ENDURO TRAIL RUN
Like the Tour de France of trail running in one race.
What?
Up, down, on trail or off track - a trail runner needs to take all in their stride. The Enduro Trail Run concept adds timing for specific hill climb, trail and descent sections to a more traditional style trail race.
Where?
The course loops take in trails through a private property. Think beautiful forest, with everything from tree lined avenues to twisty singletrack. All of this is on a sand base with a generous sprinkling of pine needles. The loops have been designed by experienced trail runners, and take in the highlights of the area.
Why?
To raise funds for some of Auckland's fastest young off track runners to head to training camps and to take on the 2015 Orienteering World Cup in Tasmania.

So like a normal trail run? Kind of?
Just like a regular race, choose long (~21km), mid (~13km) or short (~7km). Each distance will take in a variety of trails and tracks. These distances also include a King of the Mountain, Trailmaster and Descender stage. These are short sections within the race that will be timed on their own. At the finish times for these will be available, allowing a K.O.M/Q.O.M, Trailmaster and Descender to be crowned in addition to the overall winners.
How does the timing work?
SPORTident timing is the difference that allows the precise split timing the Enduro Trail Run requires. Each competitor has a small, lightweight, timing chip. Start is just like a normal race. On reaching the first timed stage there will be a timing box for competitors to punch with their SPORTident chip. This records a time. At the end of the timed section is another timing box which provides the end of the split. SPORTident stores these times and information from the splits ready for download at the finish. The whole process is super quick, taking only miliseconds for each punch.
SPORTident allows instantaneous results for these splits as well as overall time, available at the finish. Up to the second results are available real time in the event arena for racers and spectators to keep an eye on.
SPORTident is designed in Germany. It is fast, lightweight and has been used extensively across multiple sports codes.
